Shikohin Gives Back

On July 7th, Shikohin hosted a fun Tanabata Celebration with non-profit, Nova Vita Foundation! The event was such a meaningful and beautiful way to connect with the students we support. 

Part of Shikohin's commitment to "leaving the world a better place than we found it," is by advocating for the wellness and mental health of all people--especially young people--who are the future for our planet.

The Nova Vita Foundation's mission is to provide opportunities for young people to explore their creativity, express themselves authentically, and do good for the community. 

First, we decorated and hung our personal wishes on the office's Tanabata bamboo wish tree...

Next, we had a wish lantern decorating contest in which the students wrote their wishes for a better world on one side and words of encouragement for anyone struggling with their mental health on the other side.

What encouraging dreams and messages they had to share with the world!

Congratulations to our top 3 contest winners, who earned a Shikohin hat, t-shirt, and hoodie for their thoughtful lanterns! 

After dinner, we had a round table discussion about mental health and shared the food, music, and self-care rituals we use to get through difficult times.

Finally, we all went to the beach together to release the lanterns into the sunset!
